Who am I and why do I get it?
Hi – I’m Dr. Alaina – a psychologist, mom of three creative teens and author.
If you are here because you have a creatively driven tween or teen (or you are a teacher, coach, workshop leader or any other mentor-leader type of young creatives) you are in the right place.
I’m not sure how it happened, but at some point I looked up and all three of my boys were deeply invested in the creative arts (in our case, music and acting). As much as I was loving the journey, I kept looking around for some type of been-there-done-that advice online when the road got bumpy and just wasn’t finding much that really related to my experience – or the experience of other parents I’d come to know along the way.
I’ll never pretend I’ve got any part of parenting all figured out – we’re all a work in progress in my mind. But I thought it’d be amazing to create a space where parents of kids who are invested in the creative arts could get some advice, a new way of approaching things or just some solidarity on loving and supporting these unique and wonderful beings
The world needs the arts now more than ever. Thank you for sharing and nurturing your Creative’s interest in the arts and helping them to bring a little more joy, understanding, empathy, excitement, and relatability to the larger world.
